SK Telecom Collaborates with Bell Labs for Next-generation Telecom Services

Korean mobile operator SK Telecom signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Bell Labs, the research force of the France-based communication solution provider Alcatel-Lucent, in a bid to jointly conduct researches on big data and next-generation video technologies, according to the company's press release dated on 9 October. Under the MOU, both parties will implement big data analytics engines and platforms as well as innovative video technologies such as smart video recorder. Currently SK Telecom is running a commercial platform, dubbed Geovision, which provides site location/trading area analysis based on SK Telecom's own big data and parallel processing technologies. The joint effort will spawn innovative telecommunication services, according to the company.
